How to connect the ShowNET interface
The Laserworld ShowNET interface is a network interface that works with standard LAN infrastructure. It can be connected using Auto-IP, DHCP or static IP - so different methods are available for different requirements.
These connected methods are recommended:
DHCP mode
If you have a Router in your network (or another device with DHCP feature), you can use the DHCP mode:
Set all DIP switches to OFF
Auto IP
If you have no router and no other device with DHCP feature in the same network, try using Auto IP:
Set DIP Switch 6 to ON, all other DIP switches to OFF
Static IP
Refer to the ShowNET manual to learn how to set a static IP. Static IP is the most stable type of connection, but slightly more difficult to configure (not really difficult, just requires reading the how-to in the manual).
IF YOU DO NOT MANAGE TO GET THE SHOWNET CONNECTED:
SWITCH OFF THE FIREWALL FOR TESTING!
99% of connection problems result from the firewall blocking the software from connecting to the ShowNET device!
You can also try to use the Firewall Patch script (only works if the computer uses the standard windows firewall and configuration is not special)
For production use, if the test with switching off the firewall was successful, add exceptions for the software to the firewall, so you can use the software with the firewall active.
